Our Easter Pilgrimage 2015

Our Easter Pilgrimage 2015
Following the success of last year’s Pilgrimage we decided to have a second Easter Pilgrimage visiting 2 more churches that our school serves. It was particularly poignant because, as a school community, we were grieving from the loss of Mr Chris Barron, who was the husband of our Year three and Year four teacher and the father of Jemma (a Year 1 pupil) and Olivia, Poppy and Will, past pupils of our school. Last year Chris had joined us as a ‘fellow Pilgrim’ on our journey through 4 churches, assisting with transportation, guiding the small footsteps of our younger children and lending a helping hand. As always he was often there on our ‘big adventures,’ giving quiet assistance in a variety of ways.

Our Latest Fund raising School Event!
On Friday 17th October everyone joined together to support an important fundraising event: The National Brain Appeal. This whole school event was led by Ruby Knowles in Year 3 for a cause which is very close to our hearts at the moment. We all had lots of fun by coming to school in our PJs for the day as well as raising £128.35 for this worthwhile charity. In addition Ruby raised £230.00 from family and friends to add to the school total which is fantastic!

I will keep you posted as the year progresses, on Bernard and his girls escapades as well as all our own school adventures! I hope that many of you will enjoy sharing your work, play, and news of any achievements that you are proud of on our great school blog.

100 years!

2014 marks our school’s 100th anniversary on our current site (although the original school is much older!) We took the opportunity to tie this celebration into our learning, through our topic of ‘100’ through which we focused learning about the first world war and life in the Edwardian era, including exploring arts and crafts. Some of the beautiful work that the children produced in art can be seen in the school and below are also some of the children’s photographs of our local environment that they took through an earlier topic last year.
