Welcome Back Everyone!

I hope you all have had a fantastic holiday and are fully refreshed and excited about the new learning year ahead! At the beginning of the summer break my family and I moved house and I am delighted to announce that there have been several new additions to our family - we are now the proud owners of very fine cockerel called Bernard and 9 glamorous chickens!

I will keep you posted as the year progresses, on Bernard and his girls escapades as well as all our own school adventures! I hope that many of you will enjoy sharing your work, play, and news of any achievements that you are proud of on our great school blog.

Have a look under our Curriculum section to see the autumn topic that we have planned together. This learning focus was inspired by the archaeological dig that has been taking place behind our school field and the investigations into the remains of a Roman round house, as well as the possibility of Viking remains. The whole school enjoyed the opportunity to have a look at the excavations and our older children took part in the dig for a short while and it has fuelled our own historic investigations into the past. Next week we will enjoy our whole school trip to the British Museum in London, where we shall have the opportunity to extend our knowledge and skills whilst taking part in workshops and spending time exploring the artefacts held there. Following our trip, we will post some pictures for you to enjoy and update you on how it went.

Over the coming year you will also see and hear lots about PRAISE. Together, the children and staff have explored what makes a successful learner and from that we have created P.R.A.I.S.E.

This stands for:

Purposeful, Resourceful, Adaptable, Inter-dependent, Self-aware and Evaluative

Have a look in our school entrance display where we have shared what our children think about these attitudes to learning and where you will see how PRAISE fits together with our SMART aims and our core values!

Finally, here is a school prayer for the coming year ahead,
Best wishes
Mrs Sollars
