Roman Feast and Games
So the first Friday back at school was a 'WOW' day...all the pupils got to dress up as Romans as part of their new topic, which is entitled, “Up, Pompeii Up “ and will focus on learning about the Romans, their lives, key events and historical figures as well as the impact they had on Britain.

I think, judging by their smiles, that had a great day!

The morning started by collecting blackberries, and cooking their own bread, making pancakes and 'pottage', a thick soup made from vegetables and grains. All this preparation was for the Roman Feast, complete with lounging and feasting (but thankfully no vomiting!), whilst dressed in the Togas that they had made.

The day ended with a traditional Roman team ball game called 'Harpstum' - most had given up on the costumes at that point - it was a little tricky to run and play in a Toga!
