Small Schools Football Tournament
Miserden Primary School fought hard to win the Stroud Small Schools Football Tournament.
Our first match was against Randwick and we beat them 4-1, SK getting 1 and HM getting 3. In the second game, we lost 4-3 to Severn View. IT scoring 1 and HM scoring 2. In our final deciding group match, we had to beat Horsley to progress to the final. We triumphed, winning 1-0, SK scoring the only goal of the game. This secured our progression to the final of the tournament, playing against the winners of the other group, Brimscombe. In a tough game we let in a goal first but then HM scored an equaliser to make it 1-1. Seconds later, the referee blew for extra time. No goals were scored in the two and a half minutes extra but RK made some brilliant saves, forcing the game into a penalty shootout. SK scored first and so did Brimscombe. Next up IT’s well struck penalty was saved. Brimscombe had the chance to win the final but thanks to HM’s save Miserden were still in the game. HM stood up to take his penalty and he put it in the back of the net to make it 2-1. The final penalty for Brimscombe was saved and Miserden celebrated winning their second football tournament in a row.
