Welcome to our website. At Miserden C of E Primary School all the staff attach great importance to providing a warm welcoming, friendly and supportive environment where Christian values are central to our teaching and the ethos of the school.
In our community, children are encouraged to aspire to become the best they can be. We encourage individuality, creativity and pro-activity through meaningful and rewarding learning opportunities that are developed in partnership with teachers and pupils.
An individual and personalised curriculum is central to our teaching and learning philosophy and we are continually striving to improve and develop school practice still further to provide a rich and high quality education for our pupils.
Included in this is our drive for finding new and exciting opportunities to promote active and outdoor learning in our glorious surroundings.
We believe that each individual should aspire to the highest standards of behaviour and this is realised within a supportive and caring environment where children can develop their confidence and self-esteem. We recognise that children need opportunities to broaden their social skills, and are proud of the relationships that are built within school.
As headteacher, I am proud of the atmosphere of care and concern for others that is evident in our school, together with a sense of fun and challenge, and I would welcome the opportunity to show you this in person. If you enjoy exploring our website why not come and visit us? You can be assured of a warm welcome!
Jacqui Sollars, Headteacher
The school was founded in 1842 and moved to its present site in 1914. Since then it has continued to grow and develop in response to changing needs and priorities and the new school buildings were dedicated in October 2007. There are four large classrooms, which offer bright, stimulating and safe learning environments. The school also has a purpose built sports hall, our own modern school kitchen and a suite of administration offices, but its prize attraction has to be the wonderful grounds in which it sits and offers a wealth of outside learning opportunities.
At present there are 67 children on roll aged between 4 and 11, however we can also offer Early Years places for children from the age of age of 2 Years 9 months. Children are taught in 4 mixed-age classes, however the school structure has an annual review so that we can best meet the needs of all the children. At the age of 11 children transfer to secondary schools and parents receive full details of the extensive provision available during the children’s final year at Miserden.
